Sands Ring Homestead Museum

Cornwall’s historical treasure, Sands Ring Homestead Museum, was built in 1760 by Nathaniel Sands. Located on Main Street, it is one of the oldest Dutch colonial houses still standing in the Hudson Valley. The home is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The building and grounds are owned and maintained by the Town of Cornwall.

For over 30 years, students have participated in the living history programs at Sands Ring Homestead Museum. Here, students learn about life in the 1700’s while participating in colonial activities, such as open hearth cooking, butter churning, spinning and weaving, candle dipping, and cornhusk doll making. They also learn about the Sands family and their place in history.

The Homestead is open to the community during Open Houses and during community events held throughout the year.

In 2007, Friends of Sands Ring Homestead Museum, a non-profit 501(c) (3) organization, was created to support and expand the educational activities at Sands Ring Homestead Museum.

We invite everyone to become a member and join our circle of Friends. E-mail, phone, or drop a note in the mail to us and we will be happy to send you membership materials. Annual memberships start at only $10.
